5/9/02 WCARC BOARD MEETING, at WØAJ QTH
Convened at 1930.
Attendees: Bill LeBaron, Eldon/Jean Vore, Jim Lucas, Al Acker,
Bob/June Nickels, and Bob Tinney
New Activity : - A major
eco-challenge type of race, called ECO PRIMAL QUEST, will be held on the
Uncompagre in July 2002. It is sponsored by Subaru, to be centered in Telluride,
with international teams, will take no more than 10 days, and substantial cash
prizes for the fastest teams to finish. Al was asked to coordinate
communications.
Treasurer’s Report: June reported
$946.61 Checking, $9.58 Raffle, $336.55 Savings; Total, $1292.74.
We now have 47 members.
Club Business
- Black Ridge Repeater – Al and Chuck Kimball will be at the
site this Saturday AM to work on the radios, set levels, and do some
maintenance. Others are welcome to attend and help. Denny at Two-Way
Communications is planning to install ground rods for a new grounding system
soon. We have the channel elements for the Motorola MSR 2000 repeater, which
Denny has provided for us. There has been no progress on obtaining a new
tower.
- Repeater at CAP – A small work party is needed to: Isolate
guy wires from roof; check the antenna and connector; install a new coax line.
- Yard sale at Bob Tinney’s home June 7-8. Sale items should
be dropped off before the sale.
- Highway clean up is June 15.
- Field Day is June 22-23. We need to solicit ideas from
potential participants as what the club wants to do. We’re seeking a
consensus on objectives.
- Jean Vore wants a new newsletter editor to take over for the
club.
- We need to give a short history of our club to Tom Dennis for
the501c3 application. There may be applicable information in the trailer.
- Do we need to continue the liability insurance? We need to
examine the policy.
